We are proud to present to you two official new (and undoubtedly sexy) band members: Freek van Emaus (bass) and Mathijs Tieken (drums).

These guys have proven to be inspiring hedonists AND great musicians.

They will form a rythm section that will help CP become a complete and therefore more dangerous band.

So watch out, we are going to the studio soon to rehearsal new material!

More paranoia...

Good evening!

Currently I've been working on the sleeve design of Caveman. Or actually, 'working on' is not the right way to put it. Untill now it has been more like a crazy brainstorm session with my inner voices. (like in Defined Skies, but worse) Various ideas occured to me and one of the ideas I shall try to descibe to you.

You may know that the album is about the caveman in the modern world. So I thought: let's take the negative of that picture: a modern man in the stone age; a businessman lost in the wilderness.

It may work, but if that image is going to be the cover of the album, I don't know wether it has to be a picture, a painting or... something completely different.

What I do know is that I want the main parts of the whole creative-design-proces to be finished at the end of this weekend, which will be difficult, but also very exciting.

Ryo Okumoto would be proud of me!

Meanwhile in Amsterdam...

Hey Folks,

Yesterday we had a quick premixing session at Kieran Klaassen’s lab. With most instruments recorded now, we wanted to have an impression of what the end result is going to sound like. Kieran used all his magical mixing devices and created a wonderful drum sound for the first song.

The most crucial part, however, the vocals, are due to be recorded next week. Than we shall really know if all this brouhaha was worth the trouble! I have no worries though :-)

Drum and bass of 'Caveman' recorded succesfully!

Hello,

While heavy snowstorms were punishing Amsterdam, we hid in the warm and creative athmosphere of the IJland Studio for two days to record the drum and bass tracks of the upcoming album Caveman.

The results of these sessions are outstanding! The sound of the recordings has improved a lot since Defined Skies on which we used samples instead of real drums. It is clear that a programmed drum part can't match the skills of Mathijs 'Tiekoe' Tieken. But also Cesar showed that the bass guitar has become an extension piece of his body.

I enjoyed listening to them with Remko, the studio engeneer, and his trainee Myrthe.

Now we are going to record the remaining parts (vocals, guitar, keys, percussion, sound effects etc) of the album at home.

Shy is the first new published song since Defined Skies in January 2009, so it has been almost a year! Hope y’all like this little taste of the progress we made since then. For this is only the beginning…

Wednesday and Thursday we’ll be recording the base tracks of the new album in the IJlandstudio in Amsterdam! Mathijs has memorized the whole 60 minutes of the album and finally has the chance to show it to us. With his drumming talents I’m sure it’s going to be great.

Sex, Sleep, Eat, Drink, Dream...

Hi!

It has been a while since the last blog. That doesn’t mean we’ve been slacking around. Not at all! We made a lot of progress and today I can finally say we have finished all the music of the new album!

I’m very happy with all of the songs we’ve written in the past few months. I’m especially pleased with the way Dream worked out. I was afraid Dream was going to sound quite sad and miserable, leaving behind our listeners all depressed. As if that’s what dream is about! Fortunately we succeeded to transform it into a hopeful song.

Right now we’re going through the stage of rehearsing and (finally) recording the music with our drummer Mathijs Tieken. Currently we’re still looking for a studio, but the recording sessions should take place in the first days of the new year.

Looking forward to all the wonderful blogs dedicated to that :P
