Meanwhile in Amsterdam...

Hey Folks,

Yesterday we had a quick premixing session at Kieran Klaassen’s lab. With most instruments recorded now, we wanted to have an impression of what the end result is going to sound like. Kieran used all his magical mixing devices and created a wonderful drum sound for the first song.

The most crucial part, however, the vocals, are due to be recorded next week. Than we shall really know if all this brouhaha was worth the trouble! I have no worries though :-)

We shall post some material soon!

Sex, Sleep, Eat, Drink, Dream...

Hi!

It has been a while since the last blog. That doesn’t mean we’ve been slacking around. Not at all! We made a lot of progress and today I can finally say we have finished all the music of the new album!

I’m very happy with all of the songs we’ve written in the past few months. I’m especially pleased with the way Dream worked out. I was afraid Dream was going to sound quite sad and miserable, leaving behind our listeners all depressed. As if that’s what dream is about! Fortunately we succeeded to transform it into a hopeful song.

Right now we’re going through the stage of rehearsing and (finally) recording the music with our drummer Mathijs Tieken. Currently we’re still looking for a studio, but the recording sessions should take place in the first days of the new year.

Looking forward to all the wonderful blogs dedicated to that :P

Drink and Dream

Buenos tardes!


Yesterday Cesar and I were at a party of archeology students ('Archeology rocks; dust off those bones & come shake 'm!') and we watched a one-man-performance of Freek van Emaus.
You may know Freek from the presentation of Defined Skies at Meander, where he played bass.


While listening to him and other artists, we got the idea to dress up and dance like Indians at a future Circus Paranoia stage performance. But keep it secret!


Cesar started writing Dream and it's six minutes already. Dream moved me because of its compelling chords, melodies and lyrics. It's a real tearjerker!


In the meantime I've been working on Drink. The development of Drink is very chaotic, but perhaps that's in line with the subject of the song.


I think it won't be long before those two songs are ready for recording!

Hey Folks!

Last months' contest was won by diehard fan and longtime friend Taufiq Prast. The correct answer was indeed "Chaos". So congratz Taufiq, the Black Paranoia Box Deluxe (TM) is yours!

Now for next month I want all of you to think hard with us about the new styling of the website! Currently we are working on the Circus Paranoia logo, and of course, with the Circus Paranoia Logo come the Circus Paranoia Merchandize, the Circus Paranoia Sitcom and the updated, restyled website. So if you have any great ideas or any favorite colors you want to see on the new website, let us know and win the November contest!

So... what else is new? Well, when Imre started on Sex, I began to write Drink, the fourth song of the new album. Drink will be a 12 minute trip through all kinds of exotic adventures. But after 3 minutes of adventures I lost control, so I swapped songs with Imre. Last week I continued with his ideas on Sex.

And some days ago we switched again. So that whole process is pretty exciting becasue we never worked that close together when composing. I'm curious how many swaps we'll make to finish the songs. :-)

Finally I shall add an excerpt from our new song Eat. Watch it for this exclusive, completely unrecorded, demo version of Eat...!

The last two days I've been working on Sex, the first track of the new album Caveman. Some people may think Sex is a controversial title for a song (even in these days), but we can't deny the fact that it plays an important role in the life of the Caveman.

Besides, sex is also a metaphor!
